lepar had enlisted into the army and that made the war seem unreal. nuthing could make im enlist. a ski troop recruiter had come to devon and showed a film about it.lepar likes to ski and it made him realize that it would be good to do that. lepar changed his mind an enlisted into the ski troop because he thought it would be fun. i dont htink that that is a healthy thing to do just becuase u like it. he might not like it or it might not be what he thought it would be. a week later lepar was gone.lepar was devons first world war two recruit.when we were in the butt room we were talking about lepar and jokes about how he had done all these heroic things. we all wondered if we would measure up to the minimum standard of the army.i said that "if someone gave lepar a loaded gun and put it at hitlers temple, he'd miss.we had all made a winter carnival in the public park on the bank of the nagumsett river.
